Bridging the Sound GRant:
Expanding Access with Instruments and Opportunity
Goal: To eliminate financial barriers to music education by providing instruments and enrichment opportunities to underserved elementary, middle, and high school students by helping to ensure equitable access to hands-on learning, band participation, and musical growth.
Description: The Bridging the Sound initiative seeks to foster equity in music education by addressing three critical needs: the lack of foundational musical instruments in elementary classrooms, limited access to quality instruments in secondary school band programs, and the inability of low-income students to afford enriching extracurricular experiences such as summer band camps. By equipping schools with instruments and covering student band camp fees, the project empowers students to participate fully in music education regardless of their socioeconomic background. This initiative will enhance not only musical skills, but also academic achievement, creativity, and personal confidence while laying the foundation for long-term success.

elementary music kits
Selected elementary music teachers will receive a classroom set of beginner instruments designed to build foundational music skills and foster an early appreciation for music.

middle and High school band instrumentsSelected middle and high school band directors will be provide instruments for their school band program.

JSU band CampSelect students will have the opportunity to attend The Jackson State University "Sonic Boom of the South" Band Camp
