the History
The Herk Foundation is a memorial to Fred E. Jones and his positive impact on his family, friends, and community through music, education, and Christian values. In efforts to continue his legacy his daughters, Lisa Jones and Calandra Jones-Howard with the blessing of his wife, Martha Jones, founded this organization in 2008, in remembrance of the 20th-year anniversary of his death. The original vision for the Herk Foundation formed on October 27, 2002, yet was deferred until February 2, 2008. Licensed in his hometown of Hernando, MS. This foundation focuses on providing scholarships, educational support, and enrichment in music.
Mission To provide opportunities for young people to be enriched by music through empowerment of educational music programs and scholarships as well as other performing arts initiatives.

Meet Our founders
Calandra Jones-Howard, Ed.S.President / CEOThe youngest daughter of Fred Earl Jones is the President / CEO of the Herk Foundation. She received her Baccalaureate Degree from Tennessee State University, Master's Degree in Education from Freed-Hardeman University and Educational Specialist Degree from Mississippi College. She also continues to show her love for music and dance through church, community, and foundation activities. Furthermore, she is a charter member of Psi Beta Zeta (Southaven, Mississippi) of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Most of all, she is a proud wife of her wonderful husband, Charles, and mother of her beautiful daughter, Alexus .

lisa JonesBoard chairThe oldest daughter of Fred Earl Jones is the co-founder and Board Chair of the Herk Foundation. She received her Baccalaureate Degree from the University of Mississippi and a Master's Degree from Tennessee State University. She is an author and the Owner/Publisher of Divine Magazine in Nashville, Tennessee. Furthermore, she is a charter member of Sigma Chi Zeta Chapter (Murfreesboro, Tennessee) of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Most of all, she is loving mother of two children, Jocelyn and Jayden.
